Montana - The Treasure State

There's a story around every corner in Montana. It could happen as you're taking in a local event, hiking a Yellowstone National Park trail or driving along Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road. Or, perhaps it's while you're hearing about a favorite fishing hole from a local and savoring a Montana-grown meal. But the stories can happen on a smaller scale too. Like the one that centers around that little something you discovered in a local art gallery.

Use our Artist Search to find paintings, paintings, pottery, photographs, jewelry, sculpture, art glass, drawings, unique furniture and MUCH more.

Hockaday Museum of Art

The Hockaday Museum's exhibitions focus on the art and culture of Montana and the artists of Glacier National Park. The Museum offers rotating exhibits of works by nationally renowned and emerging artists and a permanent exhibition entitled 'Crown of the Continent: Glacier National Park Gallery.' This exhibit focuses on the painters, photographers, authors, sculptors and collectibles of Glacier National Park, both past and present. The exhibition always features the rich art history of the Park, though the artists change from time to time. It includes the work of Marshall Noice, T.J. Hileman, John Clarke, John Fery, Ace Powell, Robert M. Stephens, Leonard Lopp, Charlie Russell, and other early and contemporary artists of the Park.

Children will enjoy a Discovery Gallery with hands-on activities, which change in theme along with the rotating exhibits. The Museum's Off the Wall Gift Gallery offers unique gifts created by local artists including a great selection of pottery, jewelry, cards, t-shirts, artwork, and books on the art, history, and culture of Montana, as well as prints by Ace Powell, Bud Helbig, Jeanne Hamilton, Hugh Hockaday, Edward Curtis and others.

Bigfork Festival of the Arts

The Bigfork Festival of the Arts is one of the oldest art festivals in Montana. The established traditions of quality and hospitality make it one of the most popular festivals in the Northwest.

Chosen by Sunset Magazine as one of the most picturesque towns in the Northwest, Bigfork features its Summer Playhouse, numerous art galleries, restaurants, and unique shops on the shore of beautiful Flathead Lake.

Bigfork Festival of the Arts

Our well attended Festival fills the main streets of the town with a fine selection of art, crafts, food, music and other entertainment on both Saturday and Sunday.

You are invited to be a part of this special weekend. Many exhibitors have declared that this is their favorite show of the summer!

The festival has grown to its current size because of the dedicated work of a core group of volunteers and a large contingent of community members that volunteer for work details during the festival weekend. It takes more than 100 volunteers helping with tasks such as traffic control, trouble shooting, booth sitting, setup and tear-down, publicity, judging and office work to make the festival run smoothly.
